Thirty One Bathroom Organization
I'm so excited to be sharing my first homemaking post on one of my most favorite homemaking topics: organization! I love organizing so much I consider it a hobby. 🙂 I know not everyone shares my love for organization, but I know some of you out there do!
When you live in a small home or have a small space in your home, keeping things organized will maximize the efficiency of that space. The bathroom in our current apartment is pretty small (although I've seen smaller!), and we've had to think a little creatively when it comes to storage and organization.
If you need ideas for organizing a small bathroom, I hope you'll find some helpful ideas in this post! I just have a couple disclaimers before we start.
First of all, small bathrooms are hard to photograph, and my photography skills definitely need some work. I did the best I could, but some of the pictures are taken from some funny angles. 🙂
Second, I use several products from Thirty-One throughout my home, including in my bathroom. I love their products so much that I am an independent Thirty-One sales consultant. The opinions I share in this post are completely mine and don't represent the views of Thirty-One Gifts LLC.
Now with all that said, let's talk organization!! 🙂
The Vanity
When it comes to bathroom vanities, it doesn't get much smaller than this, unless you have one of those pedestal sinks that barely has room for a soap pump! (If you have one of those vanities, my heart goes out to you!) Since the counter space is so limited, we keep only the every-day essentials out and in easy reach- toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand soap, and a little dish that holds my go-to hair ties. The hanging "His" and "Hers" bins are old Thirty-One products, and they hold a few other things that we reach for as we get ready every day.
The most storage space we have in the bathroom itself is here under the vanity. (Anything that doesn't fit in here goes in the linen closet.) Nathan keeps most of his stuff in the black travel case (another old Thirty-One product), and the rest is mostly mine. 😉 A command hook on the inside of the left door holds a little rag I keep on hand to do quick cleaning touch-ups in between my main bathroom cleanings.
These little drawers are probably my favorite part of this cabinet. First of all, they're just so little and cute! 🙂 And more importantly, they fit so well and just add a little more functionality to the space. The top drawer holds little travel-size bottles. The second one has some more of my hair accessories. The third one has some miscellaneous extras (lip gloss, face cleansing masks, razor cartridges, makeup brushes, and a few other random things). The fourth drawer holds washcloths, and the fifth one has the microfiber rags I use to clean.
Floor Space
Between the vanity and the toilet, I have this fun little toilet paper holder. I found this at Target soon after we moved into this apartment and knew it would be perfect for this space! And as long as I keep it stocked, we have no fear of running out of t.p. while we're in the bathroom. 😉 The trash can sits on top of it.
The Shower
This has nothing to do with organization, but I do love this sign we have hanging above the toilet. I found it at Hobby Lobby, and it matches my anchor shower curtain! (I have a thing for anchors, in case you couldn't tell.) 😉 While it's not a Bible verse, it's a great reminder of how much God loves us. If we needed to, we could hang some shelves or a cabinet here to add storage space, but I'm rather attached to my sign. 🙂
We just use a basic shower rack in the shower. Nothing fancy. 🙂
Wall Space
This is the wall across from the vanity and toilet, and since the door covers part of the wall when it's open, it limits what we can do with this wall. I love wooden crates and found these at Michael's to paint and hang on the wall. (This is about the most "advanced" DIY project I've ever done!) I have decorations in these, but we could use them as extra storage if we needed to.
Wrapping Up…
I hope you guys enjoyed that little tour of our bathroom and maybe even got some ideas to use in your own space! (If you do nothing else, at least go get you some cute, little drawers… for your bathroom or anywhere else for that matter!) Just because you may have a small bathroom (or any other small space), doesn't mean it has to be a mess! I've learned that one of the blessings of having a small space is that you can't really afford for it to get too messy, or you'll have no room to function!
What's your favorite tip for organizing a small bathroom? I'd love to hear in the comments!
Until next time, stay anchored, friends!
